On Friday June 19, 2009 at the Sheraton Centre Hotel 52nd Street and Seventh Avenue the District Council Of Carpenters Labor Technical College Graduated 248 Apprentices, 25 women were among the graduates and 13 members of Floor Covering Local 2287.

Angelo Policastro, Moises Afnaime and Jeffery Lavalle were first second and third place winners in the floorcovering competition and received gifts from the Greater New York Floor Coverers Industry Promotional Fund.

The Keynote speaker was New York City Mayor, Michael G. Bloomberg, who discussed the stimulus money that the city will receive from the federal government. The mayor said that about seven billion dollars will be used for construction in the city that should help the local economy.

After the speech, Jim had a few words with the Mayor.
