OSHA, American Red Cross Work Together to Bring
Employee Health and Safety Tools to Local Businesses

PHILADELPHIA -- In an effort to arm businesses with the tools to protect workers from workplace hazards, especially in the face of disasters, the Philadelphia and Allentown offices of the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will join forces with the American Red Cross, Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter. The partnering organizations will officially launch the initiative during a workplace seminar designed for area employers.

"The devastating effects of our country's most recent disasters underscore the need for employers to be ready and able to protect their workers under any circumstances," says Richard Soltan, OSHA regional administrator in Philadelphia. "This alliance will maximize the resources of two organizations equipped to provide employers with the necessary guidance in this area"

OSHA health and safety alliances are part of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao's ongoing efforts to improve the health and safety of workers through cooperative partnerships with community organizations, trade associations, labor unions and employers. An extension of a national alliance between OSHA and the American Red Cross, the local collaboration will be in effect for two years.
